About
As a visual artist I have spent many years exploring my craft. After graduating in textile design at Chelsea school of Art I naturally moved from my love of textiles to incorporate studies in silversmithing and printmaking. My work varies from fabricating small sculptures through to larger outdoor and site-specific installations. I explore ideasthrough mediums such as print, wirework, ceramics, weaving and papermaking, usingmaterials both natural, conventional and those repurposed.
I move through a variety of themes such as the repeated patterns of nature, childhood memories, historical senses evoked through collated letters, stamps or maps. I am often drawn to the fragile and ephemeral nature of things. I delight in responding to a space and love to feel that my work sits in context to and with its environment.
Since 2005 I have been working with a number of Irish and English events creating large scale installations, visually curating spaces, lighting and stage sets. As an artist it has proved to be an exiting platform to create new and varied works and taught me the practical skills that help me construct more ambitious projects.
For the last 10+ years I have been working with children in the arts and see it as something that runs in tandem and balance with my own practice. I have worked with early years to teenagers, those with special needs, and adults. I have adopted a process driven approach and am passionate about sharing my skills with, and learning from children and young people. I have worked with numerous organizations in a variety of settings including The Design and Craft council of Ireland, The ARK, Creative classrooms program DLRC, Recreate, Airfield, Waterways Ireland, Dublin Artist Panel, St Patricks Festival, The Grainstore, Dublin Libraries to name a few.
